Purpose of CPSIA
Restricting the amount of lead allowed in children’s products, where companies are required to test each shipment of the product, which includes both the imprint and the material that the product is made from.
The limits for lead are as follows:
The lead content in products manufactured after August 14, 2011, may not exceed 100 ppm, lead content in paint (surface coating) may not exceed 90ppm.
Progressive Specialty Glass Company, Inc.® is committed to providing the highest quality products to our customers. If you have any questions or need any additional information please contact Pamela Sullivan and we will assist your needs.
Below we have provided a brief overview of CPSIA Guidelines on Children’s products.
A “children’s product” means a consumer product designed or intended primarily for children 12 years of age or younger. In determining whether a consumer product is primarily intended for a child 12 years of age or younger, the following factors will be considered:
- A statement by the manufacturer about the intended use of the product, including a label on the product if such statement is reasonable.
- Whether the product is represented in its packaging, display, promotion or advertising as appropriate for use by children 12 years of age or younger.
- Whether the product is commonly recognized by consumers as being intended for use by a child 12 years of age or younger.
- The Age Determination Guidelines issued by the Commission staff in September 2002, and any successor to such guidelines.
Certificate of Conformity
As of 12/31/11 we are required to send a General Certificate of Conformity with each and every shipment that is sent to our customers for all items that fall under the above definition. This certificate will be generated by Progressive Specialty Glass Company, Inc.® Once the order is produced. The order cannot ship without completed testing results and a General Certificate of Conformity generated to accompany the order upon delivery.
